Welcome to the
GOURMET WOODS website. We produce the highest quaity end-grain (butcher block style) cutting boards available anywhere. All our cutting boards are hand-made, one at a time, using the finest woods available. We have three types of boards, each available in three sizes. All our cutting boards are available with customer-defined inlays and feature a juice groove on the back/working surface and handle cutouts in the ends to facilitate ease of handling. All our boards are available with a natural food-grade mineral oil (cutting board oil) finish or a food-safe satin "wiping varnish/salad bowl" finish. You can read more about the two finishses and other features of our boards on the "About Our Boards" page.

ALL MAPLE - Hard, or Rock, Maple is "the standard" wood used in high quality cutting boards. This example is finished with only food grade mineral oil.
MAPLE AND PURPLEHEART - Purpleheart, a heavy, hard, fine-grained wood with a dark burgundy color, is also an excellent wood for use in cutting boards. Its grain structure provides the same qualities as maple and its color makes an excellent contrast to the maple. This example is finished with varnish and has a "bright maple" inlay.
MAPLE AND BRAZILIAN CHERRY - Brazilian cherry, or Jotoba, is another wood whose grain structure makes it an excellent choice for cutting boards. Its dark brown color also contrasts very well with the maple. This example is the working surface sealed with "wiping varnish."
